# Build the Quote Calculator. Do Not Build the Customer Database.

Describe what you want, wait four minutes, and a working web application appears at a live address. For a small business this is not a toy any more. A quoting tool that used to cost four thousand dollars and six weeks now costs an afternoon.

The catch is not that the software does not work. It usually does. The catch is what happens on the day it holds other people's personal information.

In 1992, Starbucks went public at a split-adjusted price of approximately **$0.27**.

Today, its stock trades above **$108**.

That’s a gain of roughly 40,000%.

Put another way…

That turns $100 into $40,000…

$500 into 200,000 dollars…

And a tiny stake of $1,000 into almost half a million dollars.

But unless you invested in Starbucks back in 1992, that opportunity is already gone.

The bigger question is:

[**Where could coffee’s next major growth story come from?**](https://invest.greencoffeecompany.com/?utm%5Fsource=email&utm%5Fmedium=paid-partnership&utm%5Fcampaign=partnership370-882%5F09-04%5F58134832179%5F6%5Feg&sub2=gm&sub3=sads)

The global coffee market is projected to reach approximately **$380 billion by 2033**. And its next breakout company may not be built around thousands of cafés.

It may begin with the farms…

And that’s the opportunity that could dwarf Starbucks returns.

Meet **Green Coffee Company.**

It owns approximately **45 Colombian farms and 10 million coffee trees**.

It also holds exclusive third-party rights Juan Valdez coffee products across U.S. and Canadian retail and institutional channels.

Those products are already reaching Target, Walgreens and thousands of North American retail locations.

And individual investors can now own a stake while the company is still private.

No accreditation required.

### Look Behind the Curtain

The tools are real and the prices are modest. Lovable, Vercel's v0, Bolt and Base44 all take a description and produce something deployed, with free tiers that cover an evening of experimenting and paid plans starting around twenty-five dollars a month. Replit's agent does the same with more control. Claude and ChatGPT both build working applications inside the chat, though hosting them permanently is a separate step.

Two costs surprise people. These platforms meter by credits rather than seats, so debugging burns the same budget as building, which means the month something breaks is the month the bill spikes. And hosting is usually extra. One well-documented case had a founder spend more than six hundred dollars in five days.

The security picture is measured rather than speculated. Veracode tested over a hundred models and found that forty-five percent of AI-generated code samples failed security testing, introducing recognized vulnerability classes. Performance did not improve with newer or larger models.

Then there is the database problem, which is more specific and more alarming. In September 2026, security researchers at UpGuard scanned around three hundred thousand domains and found more than sixteen thousand databases with publicly readable tables. Over half showed signs of containing personal information; some held passwords and authentication tokens. The root cause they identified is mechanical rather than mysterious: tables created programmatically through the API, which is exactly how these coding agents create them, do not have row-level security switched on by default. The application looks correct in a browser, because the front end asks for the right rows. Anyone querying the backend directly gets all of them.

A 2025 vulnerability record against one of these platforms describes precisely this: an insufficient row-level security policy allowing unauthenticated readers to read or write arbitrary tables of generated sites. The vendor disputed it, arguing that protecting application data is the customer's responsibility, which is itself the thing an owner needs to hear.

### The Capability Multiplier

The useful conclusion is not to avoid these tools. It is that the dividing line runs through one question: does this thing store other people's data?

If it does not, build away, and the upside is real. Internal calculators for margin or job pricing. A quote generator that produces a PDF and stores nothing. A static page with no forms. Scripts that clean up spreadsheets you already have. A dashboard over data you already hold, behind a login you already control. In all of these the worst case is your own inconvenience, and the work genuinely used to require hiring somebody.

If it does, use a platform that carries the liability. Shopify is certified at the highest level for card data. Calendly starts at ten dollars a month. Square, Jobber, Wix and the rest are cheaper than the AI-built version once you count your own time, and they carry the breach notification, the compliance attestation and the pager at two in the morning.

That last point deserves saying directly. An AI-built application has no author. Research tracking two hundred million lines of code found duplicated blocks in commits rising roughly tenfold over five years while refactoring fell by more than half, which is the precise shape of a codebase that becomes expensive to fix. When something breaks in eighteen months, the person who has to understand it is you.

### The Sovereign Action

Decide the boundary before you build anything.

\- Ask one question of every idea: does it store other people's personal data? If yes, buy a platform instead of building one.

\- Build freely on the internal side: calculators, quote generators, formatting scripts, dashboards over your own data.

\- If anything you build does touch a database, confirm row-level security is enabled on every table before it goes live. It is off by default on tables an agent creates.

\- Never let an AI-built page handle card fields. Card data obligations have no small-business exemption, and outsourcing payment to a certified processor is what keeps you out of that regime.

\- Watch the meter. Credit-based pricing charges you the same for fixing as for building, so budget for the month something goes wrong.
